Esperanza 5K Race & One-Mile Fun Run to benefit N.C. Friends of Safe Passage

Esparanza 5K Benefit Race

Southern Village in Chapel Hill

“Esparanza” is the Spanish word for “hope”, and in September, communities around the world will run and walk together in friendship, hope and solidarity to support the children and families of Safe Passage.  Safe Passage is an US-based humanitarian organization dedicated to bring hope and opportunity to the children of the Guatemala City garbage dump community.  Born from the passionate vision of a single person, Hanley Denning, Safe Passage today channels the efforts of teachers, staff, volunteers and supporters to turn the dream of education into reality for hundreds of Guatemala’s poorest and most marginalized children.
