Valentines in The Village
Monday, January 25th, 2010SOUTHERN VILLAGE HAS A HEART
Help the Earthquake Victims in Haiti
While Celebrating Valentines in the Village
Let’s all show our hearts, have some fun, and get some exercise at the same time! The businesses in Southern Village invite you to celebrate Valentines Day on Market Street, while also remembering the unfortunate earthquake victims in Haiti.
All of this will happen on Friday afternoon, February 12th from 2:30 – 5:30, when children and parents can walk around to 15 of the businesses on Market Street to collect treats and other goodies. We recommend that you start at Harrington Bank, where you can pick up a free treat bag for each child, then proceed around the Village for your goodies.
After Harrington Bank, your next stop should be the Christ Church office at 105 Market Street, where you’ll have an opportunity to show your concern for the people of Haiti as you pick up your glow bracelets. Through its close association with The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), the Church is accepting monetary donations. We are being assured that 100% of money donated to UMCOR for this purpose will go directly to helping the needy citizens in Haiti. Please encourage your children to save their allowances and donate it to this cause on Friday the 12th. This can provide a valuable lesson about helping those who are less fortunate than we are. Please visit www.christmethodist.org/article/prayers–support-for-haiti/ to learn more about how your donation will help.
The Tumble Gym will do something a little bit different that afternoon, offering each child a free half hour of Open Gym time. Just stop by, sign your child in, and enjoy 30 minutes to yourself while your child burns some energy in a safe environment! This might be the perfect opportunity to do a little bit of Valentines shopping on Market Street. To help celebrate the occasion, both Bloom and The Cottage Shop will be offering some Valentines Day special purchases. Note to husbands and boyfriends–this would be a great time to pick up a special little Valentine’s something for your wives or girlfriends!
